Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy

It's natural to have many questions about therapy and I hope to answer these in the free initial consultation, here are some commonly asked questions:

  1. How will I know therapy is right for me? Therapy can help if you feel stuck or overwhelmed. It provides support, insight, and strategies to foster meaningful change. An initial consultation can help determine if therapy meets your needs.
  2. What does therapy involve? Therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we’ll identify challenges, set goals, and develop strategies to navigate them. The process is collaborative and tailored to you.
  3. Therapy model: What therapy approaches will you use?

I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Couples Therapy, and Single-Session Therapy. We’ll discuss your needs and preferences to choose the most suitable method for you.

  4. Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person in Wimbledon Chase or online therapy via Microsoft Teams, so you can choose what works best for you.

  5. How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer longer-term support. Single-session therapy is also an option to explore a specific issue within one session.

  6. Waiting list: Will I have to wait? I aim to offer the initial consultation within a week and I currently have good availability to start seeing new clients.
  7. Cancellation policy: How much notice do I need to give? Please provide at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
  8. Confidentiality: Is therapy confidential? I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere to good practice guidelines. Therapy remains confidential, except in cases where there is a risk of harm. I will always discuss any necessary disclosures with you.
  9. How do I book a session?
You can book a free consultation by emailing info@wimbledonpsychology.co.uk to see if we’re a good fit. There’s no obligation to book in, just a chance to explore whether therapy feels right for you.
